Church and Monastery of St Augustine
Built way back in the year 1572, it reminds you of an era gone by. Standing atop a hill in Old Goa, Panaji, this 400+ year old ruined tower is one of the four erstwhile magnificent towers of the Church of St. Augustine. This tower is almost 46 metre high and is still standing tall when the rest of the Church and towers have succumbed to the forces of nature and neglect. One can still see vestiges of altar, arches and piers that were once part of this grand Church. A sneak peek into its history would tell you that this was constructed by a group of twelve Augustinian friar who arrived in Goa in the year 1572, however, the structure got completed after 30 years since its day of inception.
